Andrés Gallego (Melilla, 1983) explores the boundary between painting and photography through meticulously handcrafted settings, where intimate and silent stagings take centre stage.

In 2020, following years of training and experimentation with photographic scenes in diverse locations, he began a series inspired by Edward Hopper, marking a turning point in his practice. He started to construct sets manually, to create paintings later integrated into his photographs, and to portray his partner as a way of exploring themes related to identity, domestic space, and intimacy.

This series brought him his first international recognition. In November 2023, he opened his own studio in Castellón—a space devoted to both creation and education, from which he continues to produce his current work. In 2024, he embarked on a new series in dialogue with the work of Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi.

His work has been recognised in major international competitions such as the Tokyo International Foto Awards, the Prix de la Photographie Paris (PX3), the International Photography Awards (IPA), and the ENAIRE Foundation. He has exhibited in venues including the Royal Botanical Garden in Madrid, Palazzo Roverella in Rovigo, Kühlhaus Berlin, and the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney.
